Afton, Michigan is an unincorporated community within the Ellis Township. It is located east of the Pigeon River and about 20 miles south of Cheboygan. It had originated as a lumber camp in 1887. The area is quite popular for outdoor recreation from boating, camping, snowmobiling, hunting, and hiking.
